Rooted in tradition and driven by passion, these individuals champion the festival’s mission to preserve our wetlands while celebrating Cajun culture. They share their stories, rally their communities, and invite visitors near and far to experience the magic of the marsh firsthand.

Saving the Marshlands

of Cajun Country.

The Louisiana Nutria Fest is a unique and exciting event celebrating the state’s rich cultural heritage while addressing a pressing environmental issue.

Held annually, this one-of-a-kind festival brings together local communities, outdoor enthusiasts, and conservationists for a fun-filled day of competitive hunting, family-friendly activities, and live entertainment.  Participants compete to harvest as

many nutria (an invasive species wreaking havoc on Louisiana’s wetlands) as they can, all while raising awareness about the importance of preserving the state’s fragile ecosystem.

With a combination of friendly competition, educational outreach, and a lively festival atmosphere, the Louisiana Nutria Fest is a celebration of both the state’s passion and its commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Dirt, Straight Shootin'It...

“Ain’t nothin’ like the Louisiana Nutria Fest — good food, good music, and a community that knows how to celebrate while protectin’ the bayou. It’s more than a festival… it’s a way of life down here.”
Boudreaux L.

Delacroix, LA

“I didn’t know what to expect, but Louisiana Nutria Fest blew me away. Between the rat toss, the live music, and the energy — oh, the energy— it’s the most unique festival I’ve ever been to. I’m already planning next year’s trip.”
Samantha R.

Austin, TX

“Louisiana Nutria Fest isn’t just a party — it’s a rally. We came to hunt, to eat, and to stand up for the wetlands. The energy is wild, the people are real, and the marsh comes alive. I’ll be back with a bigger crew.”
