LNF COOK-OFF RULES
Participants will compete in the preparation and completion of a nutria dish. Dishes must contain at least 60% nutria meat.
Each Team is responsible for obtaining and preparing the nutria meat and other ingredients required for the cook-off.
Any nutria, beef, poultry, or pork, along with dairy products, must be maintained at the proper storage temperatures until prep time begins.
Teams can marinate and cut food items beforehand. You do not have to prepare the meat for cooking at the cooking site.
Cooking on-site the day of the cook-off. Nothing pre-cooked will be allowed. All cooking must be done in open view.
Cooking stove and fuel (Coleman type or similar), or propane/butane burners are recommended for use in preparation of your entry
Cooking conditions are subject to inspection at any time during the event.
Sanitation must be used at each booth.
All food preparations and cooking will be completed in the designated "pit area" under the Venice Marina Pavilion. This will be lined off to accommodate the cooking teams.
Cooking pot, cutting board, knife, water, and ice cooler (for meats and liquids), paper towels, spoons, can opener, and matches or lighter are recommended items to bring with you.
You must bring your own tables and chairs for cooking, prep, and seating if needed. You generally have a 10'X 10' cooking area.
Serving sample cups & spoons/forks will be provided to you.
Cooking time will begin Saturday morning. You must have all cooking done and ready for sampling no later than 4:00 pm.
People's Choice judging will be announced at approximately 6pm. Subject to change depending on the number of participants.
ALL AREAS MUST BE KEPT CLEAN AT ALL TIMES.

The 2026 Louisiana Nutria Fest Cook-Off in Venice, Louisiana, will be open to all registered entries. The Entry Fee is $50.00 per Team and must be collected on the day
of the cook-off.
